About the Autograph Book

A small leather-bound journal titled "My Flying Tour" — signed inside as "Flying Tour Memoir" by Lt. James G. Adams — contains over 100 autographs from some of the most celebrated aviators of the early 20th century.

Many entries are personally inscribed to Adams with heartfelt dedications, dated from the golden era of aviation between 1930 and 1941, when Adams served as operations supervisor at Floyd Bennett Field, New York City's first municipal airport.

The book includes American, German, French, Japanese, and international aviators — several of whom would later become adversaries in World War II. It is a wholly unique artifact: a singular record of a pivotal era in flight, written in the hands of those who lived it.

Inside the front cover, Adams wrote: "If found please return this book to — Lieut. Jas. G. Adams, Airport Inspector, Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, N.Y. — No Reward. No Questions Asked."
